Summer Chopin Concerts in Brochów

Since 2008 the Fryderyk Chopin Society has been organising concerts in the Basilica of St. John the Baptist and St. Roch in Brochów near Sochaczew. The concerts are held on every Sunday in July and August at 13.15, after midday Mass. They are mainly piano recitals, but in recent years duos and trios have also performed in the church. The concerts feature mostly baroque, classical and romantic music, especially the works of Chopin.

The fortified church on the River Bzura in Brochów, situated some 11 kilometres from Żelazowa Wola, was an important place for the Chopin family. On 28 June 1806 Fryderyk’s parents, Nicolas Chopin and Tekla Justyna Krzyżanowska, were married in the Basilica. Fryderyk was baptised there on 23 April 1810, and in 1832 his elder sister Ludwika got married to Józef Kalasanty Jędrzejewicz in the church.
